Type of Application:
Zoning By-Law Amendment

Details:
A zoning by-law amendment application to permit a total of six lots on the subject lands (3 existing lots and 3 new lots). The existing lots will be reconfigured to facilitate each of the six lots to have both road frontage and frontage on the St. Lawrence River. The lots will be privately serviced.

Public Meeting:
June 9, 2016

Comments:
At the public meeting there were concerns about converting this land to a new use from its current agricultural state.  While the owners do not farm, they have leased the land in the past to neighbouring farmers.  Six lots are essentially a subdivision.

Join A City Committee

Join A City Board or Committee!

Greetings!

As I prepare for my official start on Kingston City Council next week, I just wanted to share with you the opportunity to join one of Kingston's boards and committees.

You may have already seen notices posted in the paper or on the city website, but I thought it important to reach out directly to our district. The knowledge, work, and effort put in by the volunteers on these committees is invaluable, and I know many of you are engaged and passionate community members who would be great additions to these teams. Click here for the full list.

One of the committees that you might consider is the Rural Advisory Committee:

(The committee) represents the interests of Kingston's rural residents, as they relate to residential, agricultural and rural-business matters. Provides input and advice as required, through Council or a standing committee of Council on issues of interest or impact to the rural community. Reviews and recommends appropriate means and methods of communication, including information sessions, public meetings or other to communicate City information to rural residents and promote two-way communication between rural residents and the City.

The committee is composed of two rural residential representatives, two rural agricultural representatives, one rural-business (farm or non-farm) representative and two members of Council.  Meetings are on a quarterly basis or at the call of the chair.  Appointment to this committee is for the term of Council.

(From the City of Kingston Website)

Other committees that are connected to issues important for our district include the Committee of Adjustment, the Housing and Homelessness Advisory Committee, Kingston Environmental Advisory Forum, and the Waterfront Master Plan Working Group.

If you are interested in putting your name forward, you can submit your application at this link: https://www.cityofkingston.ca/city-hall/committees-boards/apply-to-serve

If you would like more information, come to the Volunteer Recruitment Information Sharing Event at 6 p.m TONIGHT in Memorial Hall within City Hall, at 216 Ontario St. Formal presentations will be made on the focus and mandate of each committee or board seeking applicants. A question and answer period will follow the presentations.

Until next time,

Richard
