Art After Dark

  • Downtown Kingston (map)

This event is always a delight to participate in, I hope to see it continue to grow year after year!

From Kingston Arts Council Website:

On Friday May 23, Kingston art galleries will keep their doors open well into the night for the “illuminating” event,  Art After Dark. The event takes place from 7 – 10 pm.

“This is a wonderful opportunity for downtown galleries to showcase art by local talent in a unique way,” says Simona DiFilippo, project manager and marketing coordinator for Downtown Kingston Business Improvement Area (BIA).

Art After Dark takes place twice a year, in May and September, with a focus on downtown Kingston galleries. As the business day comes to a close and downtown Kingston streets glow with lighting from shop windows, restaurants, and street lights, visitors can visit a variety of galleries ranging from Princess and Barrie Streets all the way down to King Street. The event is an innovative way to promote the city’s artists while at the same time attract people to the downtown dining and drinking establishments.

For more information about the event, read the excellent essay, Anticipating Art After Darkwritten by Kamille Parkinson, owner of Upper Canada Consulting.
