Brush collection to begin week of October 5

The City’s annual brush collection program is scheduled to begin the week of October 5. For a five-week period staff will be collecting brush throughout the City of Kingston. Residents can find their collection schedule on the City’s online waste collection calendar.

For brush collection residents are asked to have their sticks, branches and bush pruning to the curb by 8 a.m. on the Monday of their collection week. Brush pieces must measure no more than 90 cm (3 feet) in length or 15 cm (6 inches) in diameter and are to be piled loosely at the curb with the butt ends facing the street.

Collection may take place on any day during a collection week, and residents are asked not to place out brush more than two weeks in advance of their collection week. Leaf collection will begin the week of November 9.

Kingston residents may also drop off yard waste at no charge at the following locations:

• Kingston Area Recycling Centre, 196 Lappan’s Lane, open Monday-Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturdays 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
• Norterra Organics, 2069 Joyceville Road. Residents are asked to call 613-546-0884 for hours of operation.
