From Solid Waste Division:
The solid waste division is excited about the upcoming curbside battery recycling program during the week of November 7-12. To kick off the program, specially marked battery bags were distributed in the October 13 edition of Kingston This Week.
Providing this bag almost a month before the special collection provides customers with the chance to collect all of their used and expired batteries around the house. The program starts just after the clocks turn back and when Kingston Fire & Rescue promote and urge residents to change their batteries in their smoke alarms and carbon monoxide detectors.
Eligible residents will be able to place their
battery bag at the curb on their regular collection day the week of
November 7-12. Battery bags should be placed on the ground, beside the recycling box or another waste container at the curb.
